I understand that
your company is about to start developing the infrastructure for the Estates of
Autumn Oaks.
At one of the
meetings I mentioned the natural phenomenon of a boulder field of one to two
acres in size. Mr. Mellott said he was
aware of it. I don't remember if he
said it would be preserved or not.
The surveyor form
Eshenaur and I were talking one day and I mentioned the boulder field to him.
He told me that he was aware of it and that Colonial Road will
go right thru the middle of it.
I don't know if
anything can be done at this point but is a shame that such a natural area will
be completely obliterated.
At first I was
thinking that all the construction crew had to do was add fill over the top.
However what I failed to remember at the time is that all of the underground
facilities such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water line and also
probably the other utilities will have to be buried in the same area.
In addition to the
destruction of a natural area created millions of years ago I cannot
imagine the additional cost of going thru this area. In addition to moving thousands
of tons of rock I cannot imagine what will be encountered
under those boulders. Probably underground streams etc.
I have attached
several pictures of the area, Unfortunately they were taken after the leaves
were on the underbrush and the size is not readily apparent. If you would
like to see it I would be happy to show you where it is. Pictures do not do it
justice,
